I sit under low lamp light with quill resting in my hand just right, simply a beautiful sight
Dip, the tip dripping with emotions in the most elegant calligraphy
The feather flirts with the paper in tickles as it writes
Dip the pen into the ink pot, as my thoughts are escaping from within, fleeing to papers spot
The quill makes the heart quiver, as the writer in me comes to life at its sight. Drizzling words the final draft
Leaking my soul for all to uphold the feather take flight upon the paper that is my heart. Art!
Dribbling to no end, hand cramps. Just one more trickle, and its final splash. Declaring “The End”
Feather light put back in it spot, as the lamp is turned off. Writer’s delight to have waltzed delicately in cursive perfectly
Until we me again, me and that gorgeous feather quill pen
I have never used a quill, but generally only use a fountain pen for writing. Handwriting is becoming a lost art.

I asked for one for many years with the one whom I asked going to deaf ears. This year the one whom is now my dearest was on the hunt. He got me that, and my favorite paper in leather a bound book. It was a beautiful gesture. He also got me the calligraphy pen with different tips that is in my picture. I took Calligraphy in HS. Probably the only class I Aced lol. My dad was a civil engineer. He passed away when I was 9. He had the most perfect handwriting I have ever seen. He instilled in me at a very young age the importance of neat handwriting. So I take pride in beautiful hand written memoirs. I use it in my scrapbooking too. 📝🎨 I am old school in many regards…✌

I love cursive handwriting … they stopped teaching it for years … it is finally … FINALLY come back into the curriculum. Sadly, though, my 18 going on 19 year old step-grandson received a birthday card from us … in our living room we watched this brilliant young man struggling to read the message … I had written it in cursive. He couldn’t read it !!?? Now I know he’s mine, but he is indeed a brilliant young man that can do most anything he puts his mind to … but no one taught him cursive ??!!! As a former teacher I was sooooooo disappointed !!! Bless you, Lisa, for so beautifully celebrating the art of writing … pen in hand … cursive letters … that tell a story all their own … now I’ll get off my soapbox about not teaching cursive … oh wait … they ALSO quit teaching spelling !!?? Let me go … I’ll only sound like an crabby old lady. Thanks, again, Lisa, for a beautiful tribute to writing. love, jan

I never used a quill, but used the kind of pen that dip into the ink. Calligraphy was part of the homework when I went to school!

How fun!! Handwriting is one of gifts. I am limited when it comes to my hands. Scrapbooking, writing, and handwriting. 💗

I think it associates with the Chinese brush calligraphy we had to do as homework. The brain was trained early in age!
